Wazopia: The Web Blog of Jim Fisher
A place to present my thoughts, ideas and astonishment's about life in general. It'll have lots of photography plus my moments of epiphany about music, culture, books, politics, religion, media, sports, business and my favorite gadgets. I will not write about work! Enjoy!

Fall harvest(ing)
How do they get all that corn from the field? Pretty simple really. Labels: corn, fall, field, harvester, john deere, Northeast, Ohio, photo, photography, truck, windmill
By mid-October the corn is pretty dried out and ready to be harvested. Most of this corn is used for feed and not for human consumption.
A closeup of the corn dried up on the stalks.
The John Deere harvester on the right sweeps through the fields and processes the corn. The kernels are poured into a waiting truck.

Scarlet and Grey
This image came out pretty good. Grey is the toughest color to image. No doubt some of you may wonder where the grey is in the picture. That means your monitor is calibrated differently than mine. Whatever the colors I love the swirls in the background. Labels: 5D, canon, color, fall, leaf, leaves, lensbaby, lightroom, Northeast, Ohio, photo, photography
Let me tell ya, at f2.0 the LensBaby is a bear to focus! To get this image I stood on a rickety picnic table and the wind was blowing the leaves.

More leaves - I can't stop
Only another week and one of the best falls for photography will be over. Then I'll stop this craziness with leaf images. Labels: 5D, canon, color, fall, leaf, leaves, Northeast, Ohio, photo, photography
This image was captured on Fields Rd. in Bainbridge Township, OH.
Soon it will be barren and desolate as winter sets in across Northeast Ohio. Anyone willing to pay for me to take a trip to someplace exciting? Tuscany? Morocco? Cabo?

An Amish Saturday
Amish life is simple and fun. Plenty of walking or riding on horse-drawn vehicles. Here's a few scenes in and around Mesopotamia, OH. Enjoy! Labels: 5D, Amish, boy, buggy, canon, fall, family, father, Geauga, horse, image, Mesopotamia, Northeast, Ohio, photo, ride, road, scooter, sons, walk
An Amish father and his sons walk along the road.
A young Amish boy pushes a scooter.
An Amish family takes a ride on a cart pulled by Shetland pony.
An Amish couple takes an afternoon stroll.
A familiar site throughout Geauga, Trumbull and Ashtabula counties are these Amish buggies.

Leaves and camera
Labels: 5D, blue, canon, color, fall, leaf, leaves, Northeast, Ohio, photo, road, sky, tree
Why do fall leaves and digital cameras go so well together? Take a look!
This grove of trees were so spectacular I almost parked in the middle of the road to shoot them. The sky looks great and with my handy polarizer filter the blue sky looks glorious.
A nice contrast of a barren tree in the foreground against a beautiful tree in the background.

"Tribe Time" is up and over
In what may be the biggest collapse we've ever witnessed by Cleveland fans, the Tribe goes down like a bunch of gutless chumps. They proved for the second time (remember the 2005 collapse the last week of the season) that when they get to the brink they choke. They just don't want it bad enough.
Boston came to play the last three games. Jake came to play and was fine until Casey's boner in the 7th. This performance is only matched by the Cavaliers in 1988 losing to Chicago Bulls in the first round after beating them six times in the regular season.
Casey, C.C., Hafner, Grady, Victor, Fausto and the rest of the team had their chance to step up and win it but they went into their shells after Beckett dominated them Thursday night.
We have good players, a good team, but we don't have any champions, and that's what wins these games.
Paul Dolan, spend a little more and get us some men!

The Falls at Chagrin Falls
Friday was a beautiful day in the Cleveland area. The sky was blue, the weather was mild and the leaves are lovely. I took a short stroll around the Triangle in Chagrin Falls. Enjoy! Labels: 5D, bridge, canon, Chagrin, ducks, fall, falls, feed, flower, Northeast, Ohio, park, photo, river, riverside, water
The falls are a perfect place for couples taking pictures.
Here's a closer picture of the falls itself.
On the other side of the street is the "pre-falls". The wall or dam makes a pretty pond before the river starts cascading over the rocks.
Feeding the ducks is fun for both the young and the experienced.
The bridge over the river had nice planters with flowers.

It's Fall Color Time. Yeah!!!
Finally, the leaves are turning color and it looks like it will be a spectacular fall in Northeast Ohio. I've been in a photo drought lately and this is a good time to get the shutters clicking again. Labels: Arboretum, canon 5D, fall, focus, green, Holden, leaf, leaves, lensbaby, Northeast, Ohio, photo, red
These images were taken at beautiful Holden Arboretum in Lake County. Enjoy!
Ahhh, wet weather, colorful leaves and the LensBaby. The trick with the LensBaby is not to get so focused about the focus (pretty puny aren't I?). It's very tricky to focus anyway. You have only a single plan of focus and if you hit it then you're pretty lucky. If I want sharpness I can use the 50mm but I wouldn't get the unique LensBaby "bokeh" in the background.
The trick is the creation of the overall effect. I love the colors of the main subject but what is even better is the background which wants to jump out and be part of the main subject! Note the light bubbles in the center right of the image. Where did they come from except from a LensBaby?
